Things for a Christian to do on the Weekend
Hey, fellow believers!
Let's talk about something we all share, no matter our background, our faith and our weekends. Not every Christian is the same; we come from different families, cultures, and even church traditions. But there are some practices that can really enhance our spiritual lives and encourage those around us each weekend.
Here are four things you might want to think about doing:
#1 - Plan to Attend Service
I know, I know, this one sounds obvious, but hear me out. We know Sunday is coming, right? Yet, sometimes, we still miss it.
Hebrews 10:25 reminds us, "Not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near."
So, this weekend, let's make actual plans to be there. Maybe set a reminder or plan your day around it. It's not just about going; it's about preparing your heart to receive.
#2 - Surround Yourself with Christians
How about making your Sunday even better by spending time with your church family? After service, why not invite some folks for a meal or a hangout? It could be as simple as a potluck at your place where everyone brings something to share.
Remember, Acts 2:42 says, "And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers." Fellowship isn't just good for your spirit; it's fun too!
#3 - Pray
This one's key. Set up four prayer times this weekend. Use your phone's alarm if you have to, but make time for conversation with God. You might find it easier during the weekend when things are a bit more relaxed.
Philippians 4:6 tells us, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." The weekends give us a perfect chance to slow down and reconnect.
#4 - Sleep
Now, let's talk about something we often overlook - sleep. I've declared this year as "The Year of the Nap," and I'm sticking to it! There's wisdom in rest.
Psalm 127:2 says, "It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep." Our bodies need rest to function properly, and it's part of God's design for us.
Final Thoughts:
Today is Friday, and for many of us, the weekend is either starting or just around the corner after work.
What steps can you take tonight to prepare for a meaningful Sunday?
Whether it's setting your alarm, planning your outfit, or just praying for a receptive heart, let's start today for a greater Sunday.
Let's make our weekends not just a break from the week but a celebration of our faith and community.
What do you think?
Ready to make this weekend count?
Just some thoughts,
Chris
